A new report shows that the majority of Canadian homebuyers still need help during the mortgage shopping process. The poll was done by SuperMarket.ca, and shows that 6 in 10 Canadians report needing help with their mortgage, and that only 27% of people felt meeting with a mortgage broker face-to-face was important. While the majority are still seeking the advice of a mortgage professional, the number of people who still think they need help is too high.
What this data really tells us is that there is a strong need for improved mortgage education in the Canadian marketplace. Even though the majority of homebuyers use the Internet and social media when mortgage shopping, more trust needs to be put in mortage brokers. I’m interested in hearing what you think mortgage brokers like myself could do to make the process better for consumers, please share with me on Twitter.
